Musikmakarna Recognized by Swedish National Radio as One of the Places That Changed Swedish Music

Published: 24 April 2026

Musikmakarna - Songwriters Academy of Sweden has been featured by Sveriges Radio P3 in the new series 10 Music Places - highlighting ten locations that have played a major role in shaping Swedish music since the year 2000.

In the feature, P3 explores how a songwriting school in Örnsköldsvik, on Sweden’s northern coast, became part of the modern Swedish music export phenomenon - with alumni and collaborators now contributing to songs heard on charts around the world.

Among the names highlighted are Thomas Stenström, Kerstin Ljungström, Olga Myko, Shy Martin, Cobrah and Elvira Anderfjärd - creators who have helped shape today’s music landscape both in Sweden and internationally.

The report also highlights how Musikmakarna’s influence today stretches far beyond Sweden, reaching everything from contemporary pop and K-pop to Melodifestivalen and global songwriting collaborations.

The 10 Music Places series focuses on environments and cultural hubs across Sweden that, according to P3, have had a significant impact on music and society over the past 25 years. Musikmakarna was selected alongside iconic places such as Jazzhuset in Gothenburg, Scharinska Villan in Umeå and the Peace & Love festival grounds in Borlänge.

We’re incredibly proud to be part of this story - and grateful to all students, alumni, teachers, collaborators and partners who have helped build the creative community that Musikmakarna is today.
