Musikmakarna students awarded at the Swedish MPA Awards

Published: 16 Okt 2021

We say big congratulations to our former Musikmakarna students Daniela Sörensen, Jonatan Gusmark, Ludvig Evers, Elias Karpari and Myra Granberg who have been nominated in the Music Publishers' Prize 2021.

Here are the statements:

BREAKTHROUGH OF THE YEAR:

Daniela "Daniela Rathana Sörensen"

Daniela Rathana has in a short time made herself an inalienable part of the Swedish music scene.

In songs like "Ansikte" and "Testamente" there are serious questions at the bottom, but the expression is playfully challenging and powerful. It requires a songwriter with weight, and the finger in the air for how successful soul and r&b should sound right now.

 INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS OF THE YEAR:

Jonatan Gusmark & Ludvig Evers (Moonshine)

With five songs on the album “Super One” with Super M, Moonshine reached the second place on the US album chart in the fall of 2020. As one of K-pop's most in-demand producer-songwriter pairs, they have also enjoyed success in Japan and South Korea with songs for NCT2020, NCT Dream and TWICE over the past year.

COMPOSER OF THE YEAR:

Elias Kapari

Elias Kapari has a rare ability to capture the listener regardless of whether it is with a classic pop melody or a heavy beat. It shows the fact that he is involved in two of the last year's big Swedish hits - "Tystnar i luren" with Miriam Bryant and Victor Leksell and "Ge up igen" with Miriam Bryant and Yasin. Both are songs with their own identity.

Myra Granberg

The hit songs just seem to flow out of the hands of this songwriting star. In driven pop with influences from wisdom and folk music, she manages to find an engaging expression where modern meets folk. It is heard not only in own hits such as "Lose My Mind" and "Håll käften og svirvinn", but also on songs with, for example, Greekazo, Petra Marklund and Petter.

SONG OF THE YEAR

Tystnar i Luren (Miriam Bryant & Victor Leksell) – Miriam Bryant, Victor Leksell & Elias Kapari

A touch of folk tone, a soft pop drive and a text about how much can be contained in silence. This wistful West Coast duet has been rocking large audiences. Since it topped the Swedish singles chart for a few weeks during the spring and winter, it has remained at the top of the list. Undoubtedly one of the songs that defines the Swedish pop year 2021.
